Diaper Tote Bags for Mom and Dad

Diaper Tote Bags for Mom and Dad
Selecting the right diaper tote bags for babies' day-to-day needs can initially seem like a daunting task. Diaper tote bags must be large enough to hold a large amount of items like bottles, clothes, snack containers as well as other products. Many times, parents must carefully place each item in their diaper tote bags to make sure that everything fits inside them. Standard diaper bags can offer some solace for parents hoping to fit all of their baby's on-the-go wants into one bag. And yet, who prefers "standard" over stylish and modern? JJ Cole diaper bags offer mothers a vast array of stylish and sleek diaper tote bags. Whether a mother wishes to hold her baby's items in the Swag bag or the Mode tote, she will find the perfect bag for her own style. Combining chic, modern prints with functional designs, JJ Cole diaper bags are the best accessory for both a mother and her baby. Even as she stores her baby's things inside, a mother never has to sacrifice her sense of style while carrying a JJ Cole diaper bag. Today, fathers no longer have to carry around the pastel-hued diaper tote bags that were once standard for their baby's needs. With Diaper Dude diaper bags, fathers can proudly tote their child's needs around town. Offered in various styles, Diaper Dude diaper bags closely resemble backpacks and messenger bags. Fathers can still look cool while taking care of their children's on-the-go needs. Onlookers will never know that these roomy totes are actually diaper bags. While JJ Cole diaper bags add a feminine, stylish touch to a functional diaper tote bag, Diaper Dude diaper bags also offer something special for Dad. With these bags, neither Mom nor Dad need to alter their personal styles to tote around their child's needs.

wipes, a change of clothes, another shirt for you (u will get dirty too), snacks.

  • Kristy says:
A few diapers, travel baby wipes and diaper rash cream (they make small tubs) are the essentials.
In my diaper bag, I also have a stain sick (travel size, highly recommend it), few grocery-store bags (for those really messy diapers), extra bib and burp cloth and a changing pad.
I also pack a extra undershirt and an alfit, blanket, sippy cup & snacks (my daughter is older now), but I pack those before I leave. If the baby is younger, bottles, water and formula.

  • ♥AwesomeMomma♥ says:
It depends on the childs age, but here's an idea:
    baby wipes
    diaper rash ointment
    bottles
    formula
    baby food
    spoon
    extra changes of clothes
    blanket
    pacifier
    sippy cup
    plastic bag (walmart bag)
    snacks
    bib
That's just an idea, but it should be about all you need.

  • Jackie R says:
toys, bottles-food, wipes, ointment, extra clothes, dipar pad ( to change the baby on)

  • anthony_and_tracy says:
that depends on how long the bag has to last?
    and how old it is?
    short list
    diapers
    Wipes
    Extra Clothes
changing mat ( if small baby )
food/drink (milk) never run out of drink !
spare pacifier if it needs it only
    long list
look at what others have said and remember some spare clothes for your self, because they can & will be sick on you as well :o)

  • LP says:
wipes, extra clothes, snacks and drinks for baby,a few toys, diaper rash cream, a small foldable changing mat, diaper bags (some changing places require you to use them)... that's it.

All In One Cloth Diapers - Which Is The Best?

All in one cloth diapers integrates all of the parts of a regular cloth diapering procedure in one simple to use piece. These cloth diapers have a waterproof outside layer, retentive material on the inside and snaps or hook and loop tape on the top to hold the diaper.
So many parents will own not more than 6 or more aios, and utilize them when others need to replace the baby's diaper, like the baby sitter, church nursery volunteers, grandparents, child daycare providers etc. Aio cloth diapers  can be made use of full time. But then, they are costly compared to separates, and do need more frequent replacing than most separate diaper and covers.
Every once in a while, a baby probably may stay in size medium or large lengthy enough to wear them out prior to outgrowing that size, so re- purchasing the exact size is a probability, most especially if you try to get by with just 18 aios and launder them virtually every day. In fact 36 or so are considered necessary for full time use. Therefore, if your tight budget permits it and you want trouble-free, quick changes, the reliability of all in-one diapers can not be ignored.
However, for big babies who wet like mad at night, i still suggest Aristocrats and maybe a fine fitted diaper and doubler, especially if the baby sleeps all through the night. Nothing comes close to Aristocrat at night.
Making Your Choice
So many parents have different opinions about which all in one cloth diaper is the best as there are various types in the market like, BumGenius, Bumkins etc but according to my wife, Bumkins performance and simplicity of use, trimness and cost all make it a significant preference. In fact, the outside layer on them stays soft even after frequent washing. Bumkins all in one cloth diapers besides, include an airflow panel (a cotton flap that is attached to the top and underneath of the diaper) that clearly allows you to lay a diaper doubler in for extra absorbency as well as fast drying.
They includes plenty hook and loop lock tabs to allow for changeable fittings. For example if your baby has a little chubbier legs, lock the Bumkins tabs at a downward position for a little more room for their thighs. You really can not beat Bumkins.
Bumkins cloth diapers work wonderful for all light wetters and serious wetters. If you have a baby who wets regularly, i would propose putting a diaper doubler inside your bumkins diaper. It does work fantastic and it still provides your baby with a superb trim fit. That said, the choice is yours to make, whether to go for Bumkins or Bumgenius. They all work great.

Flushable liners can be used between the diaper and the baby's skin, letting moisture pass through to the diaper while preventing solids to soak into the diaper, which will take the mess out of washing your cloth diapers. Just flush away the mess, and spend more time with your baby instead of dunking diapers. These bio-degradable flushable liners are an all natural paper product; they are unbleached and biodegradable. Rating:
I bought these to use on my 2yr old. I never bought them before as I felt it sort of detracted from the cost-effectiveness of cloth diapers. However he now only uses diapers for naptime & bedtime so I felt the extra cost was worth a few minutes of my time (I now have a 5month old as well in cloth so the time is worth more). It was completely worth it & I'm officially spoiled! No more dunking & scrubbing 2-yr old poop! They have had no negative impact on my septic system.
Also thought i should note, as others have, that if the child has not messed on the liner I wash them with my diapers & they usually stand up to 2 washes before falling apart. Great value.
  • Review by A. Hatchett for Imse Vimse Flushable Liner (2PK) 200 pieces/2 rolls (Baby)
    Rating:
I bought this liner because it was the only one available on amazon at the time. It is my least favorite liner I've tried. It was too wide for the diapers so it has to be folded to fit, and its really thin and scratchier than others. I will say that so far it hasnt broken on me, so its held up as far as usefulness goes, but its an annoyance to put in.
  • Review by J. Harvey for Imse Vimse Flushable Liner (2PK) 200 pieces/2 rolls (Baby)
    Rating:
I have been pleased with the performance of this product overall. I do agree that they are too big for the diaper but I also cut them in half and double my amount, making a perfect fit.
HOWEVER, I would be very careful about flushing these. I just spent 5 for a plumber to come and snake out our main drain. Guess what he found? A big wad of diaper liners (and I've only been using them for two weeks and flushing only the soiled #2 ones). From now on they will be bagged and go in the trash. he said they probably would not create an issue if the drain was brand new PVC, but the old style drains cannot tolerate such products. Buyer beware!!!
  • Review by Katie for Imse Vimse Flushable Liner (2PK) 200 pieces/2 rolls (Baby)
    Rating:
I've tried 3 brands of liners (Imse Vimse, Biosoft, and Kushies) and these are the BEST!
Using the baby size (about 10" long) they cover more than enough for my 14 month old, and any overhang I just fold/stuff in. Though they are not the softest, they do the job and wash well when mixed in with dirty diapers. We wash any that are just wet (and obviously toss the poopy ones), and they soften to the texture of a dryer sheet. They don't get snagged in any velcro or caught in our lint compartment of the drier (unlike the Kushies).
Super easy to use, and Dad friendly. I'll be sticking with these for the remainder of our diaper years.
  • Review by Diana Wicker for Imse Vimse Flushable Liner (2PK) 200 pieces/2 rolls (Baby)
    Rating:
Diaper liners are a must for cloth diapering once a baby is on solid foods and has "solid" poopies. They eliminate the need to soak/dunk diapers in the potty many times. (It's not the liner's fault if they rumple or fold up sometimes once the baby starts to crawl and walk.) Most of the time you can lift and flush the poopie, and maybe use a wipe to clean off the little extra mess left of the diaper. These are a generous size. If they are only urine, they wash fairly well with the diapers with some shrinking for a 2nd use. I highly recommend this product.

Marshalls, TJmaxx, Ross. They have a lot of nice bags that could be used as diaper bags. Brand name too, just a lot cheaper!
    I got a 100 dollar bag for 25 dollars =)

  • Sara due in September says:
Try TJ Maxx or Marshalls. They always have very nice bags at decent prices. As long as the bag you choose is big enough, it can be used as a diaper bag. You can always keep a "minipurse" inside it for your purse needs.

Go to a store that specializes in selling bag's. I got a gorgeous leather purse at a Liz Claiborne outlet in an outlet mall for cheap! It is really cute I get compliments on it all the time and it's big enough to keep everything in. I have bably bottles, formula, diapers, wipes, a few toys, burp rag, change of clothes for baby and then also have my billfold, makeup bag, cell phone and a few other mommy things thrown in there. It is a huge bag and everythign fits. I hated carrying a purse and a diaper bag so this works great. Retail it was 0 I got it on a major sale for around .

Pink Camouflage Diaper Bag by Wendy Bellissimo™

For the hip mama who has everything...a pink camouflage diaper bag! It's quirky looking, sure, but don't be fooled. This is one serious carry-all that will carry you through thick and thin. With a messenger bag look, and a luxurious (faux) suede feel, loads of pockets and compartments, large and small, possibly the best feature is the simplest: labels! Each pouch is marked with its intended contents: diapers, diaper creme, bottle, sippie cup...and there's a whole separate segment devoted just to "hot mama," with sections for keys, cell phone, H2O, and pens. So my computer blew up and I'm selling everything that isn't tied down so I can build a killer new machine. Got a baby or one on the way soon? You need this diaper bag. Other parents with lesser bags will stare at you... they'll know they bought the wrong bag. Check it out: cgi.ebay.com

    Rating:
I have had the gDiaper, the BumGenius diapers, disposables of various countries, & in the end.. this is our FAVORITE diaper! Besides the fun bold colors (which never fade or run... wash to dryer), they are exactly what you want in a diaper. I have a long skinny 10 month old son... these are the perfect fit from waist to legs to crotch. They are also a better over all fit than the very popular BumGenius. The BumGenius ones are too tight in the leg or too loose in the waist (forming a gap between tummy & diaper). The gDiaper has to be bought in various sizes & it often times was too tight int he waist or too loose in the leg. The are very roomy! And they are also adjustable between small, medium, & large so they are able to grow with your child & move to another in the future! They are even a great fit on my friend's chunkier little girl!
I didn't think I would like an attached liner, but instead I am in love with the attached liner. No stuffing (unless you want) or un-stuffing to wash or dry. Very absorbant! And the nice bamboo silky side ... well... poo just slides off when rinsing! Very nice! I hate poo & my gag reflex is easily set off... these are great! You can rinse & toss in the wash as is & the liner will work itself out & get clean & dry!
The velcro tabs are my favorite! They are wider than the standard tab & they overlap to secure the diaper on a small infant. They also have the inside area to press the tabs on when washing to prevent then from being ruined in the wash... and strong! There is no easily way to just pull them off (which many kids will do).
This is truly an all in one that is worth every penny spent!

Love this diaper. It is the best of both worlds. It is an AIO and it is a pocket. It dries faster than most all-in-ones and unlike most pockets you don't have to find the insert to stuff it it is right there- brilliant! You also have the pocket so you can add extra absorbency if you need to. Oh, and the new prints are SUPER cute.
  • Review by Jen Mom of 3 for Bummis Tots Bots Easy Fit Pocket Diaper, Pomegranate, 8-35 Pounds
    Rating:
This diaper is wonderful. I have a full stash of a popular brand and a few of everything else to compare these to and I just love these. My baby is very fat (12 weeks and over 15 pounds) and is almost maxing out his other one size diapers but the waist in these has a lot of space left to go. This diaper might make it to potty training. The quality of the materials seems really good, we will have to see how it holds up over time.
The only negative I see is that the bamboo isn't stay dry.
  • Review by Ben C.A. Nettle for Bummis Tots Bots Easy Fit Pocket Diaper, Pomegranate, 8-35 Pounds
    Rating:
We were using pre-folds on our newborn with diaper covers, and after several issues decided to try something else.
All I can say is these are WONDERFUL. One of the big problems with pre-folds in the middle of the night is the time it takes to change. Unless we're really quick, the baby started to wake up, and when she did, she wanted to stay up. Changing with these All In Ones allowed us to get up, change her, and she was back in bed before she realized it.
They are very soft (bamboo lined), absorb a lot of liquid, and keep the baby much happier than the pre-fold/wrap combo seemed to. The snaps are nice and solid, and stay snapped (unlike the covers we were using) which means everything stays inside the diaper where it's supposed to. They're also very minimal on the waste packaging / products / chemicals if that's important to you.
We're currently using these on a 11-12 lb baby, and they snug up quite nicely. The Velcro makes it so much easier to get a perfect fit. And being able to use these until 35lbs (hopefully?) would be a very nice cost savings.
As far as washing, we're using oxygenated bleach (oxy) in a bucket to soak (and avoid stains), and then just toss them in the wash. It's not exactly the instructions they suggest, but we haven't had any problems with break down or bleach, and they're still very absorbent. They dry nicely, and quickly, because the insert pulls out, to give more drying area.
If you go this route, you won't regret it.

Registering for Cloth Diapers

cloth diaper newborn

Registering for Cloth Diapers

If you have decided to use cloth diapers with your newborn you may wonder what to put on your baby registry.  There are so many different diaper brands and methods to cloth diaper.  The best way to discover the right cloth diapering system is to try them out.  All babies are shaped a little differently and families have preferences on certain styles or brands.  So how does you complete a baby registry for cloth diapers if you don't know which one will work best?

Many parents use the newborn period to try out several different brands or methods of cloth diapering to see which one will work best for their family.  A baby registry can reflect that.  You can choose to add higher priced newborn packages to your baby registry or you can put individual diapers on your baby registry.

Thanks Mama offers three different newborn sampler packages.  The Basic Newborn Package will give you an example of what you need for one day of cloth diapering a newborn.  The package will also allow you to try out different methods of cloth diapering to see which is the best fit for your family.

The Deluxe Newborn Package will give you two days worth of diapers for your newborn.  It also allows you to try out different brands and methods of cloth diapering.  The Deluxe package will allow you to try out a greater variety of brands than the Basic package.

If you are sure that you want easy to use diapers you can look at the Easy to Use Newborn Package. It offers enough diapers for one day of cloth diapering.  At the same time you can try out seven different easy to use cloth diapers.

If you want to put lower priced items on your registry instead of a package you can look at the packages to get an idea of what items to select for your newborn.  Make sure you get at least 12-15 diapers per day for your newborn and plenty of cloth wipes.  A wet bag and a diaper pail liner are also important items to add to your baby registry

Thanks Mama offers a baby registry for all your cloth diaper needs.

When I saw this product I automatically assumed it was two pouches. They came on time within the shipping dates, and turned out to be better than I expected. The Linen material and the cute embroiled pictures were adorable. I loved the fact that the reverse side of the bag from which the picture doesn't show, has a see-through, breathable material that helps you see what's inside better and also keep the items in your bag fresh, and the bags it self were three times bigger than I expected. So for me, this product turned out to be a good buy. Thanks BunnyBuryBaby.

Really like these bags and think they are a great idea and cute shower gift option, however the stitching on one came undone after only a few uses.

I purchased these bags in hopes to organize my cute bag I wanted to use as a diaper bag. On the View, Elizabeth talked about how she just threw them in the wash to clean them up. Well, I did that and my bags are now about half the original size. The zippers are not functioning very well because of the shrinkage. I contacted the seller and have yet to hear a response. This was very disappointng as well since the rating of the seller had been very high. I would not recommend purchasing these unless you never plan on washing them.

I was looking for a cute solution for diaper bag organization. Good Idea, but didn't fit well in my diaper bag (Petunia Pickle Bottom). You need so much stuff, they ended up creating a bigger space problem for me. When I previewed my review there were 5 stars that I for some reason can't change. It only deserves maybe 2 stars.

    Rating:
We tried fuzzi bunz one size diapers, kissaluvs fitted diapers, fuzzi bunz xs, small, and medium perfect size diapers, bum genius all in one, one size organic snap diapers, and the bum genius 3.0 one size pocket diaper with velcro and the fuzzi bunz one size was our favorite. I don't have any particular comment on the "Apple Green" version. We have the color and it is a fun bright color that doesn't fade. On FB one size, in general:
    The Pros:
-First, obviously, we like it because we don't have to buy a whole new set of diapers for each size. Our son has worn these since he was a few weeks old and is still wearing them at eight months. The adjustable elastic is very convenient and only has to be adjusted every once in a while and it doesn't bunch up like the bum genius that only has three different levels. The notches in the elastic make the fit much more customized for the baby.
-We much prefer the snaps to the velcro on the bum genius because you always know where to snap the diaper so that it isn't too tight or too loose.
-We prefer the pocket to the all in one because it seems like they get more clean this way (you can separate them for the wash), you can adjust the absorbency based on size and time (night or day), and they dry faster this way which is especially important if you are line drying. That said, we also prefer the pocket to the fitteds with a cover - more convenient.
-Even though our son would fit in the medium perfect size, the one size fits better. I think they often fit better than the "perfect" size.
    The Cons:
-We generally like these, but the later versions (we have some of the first ones and some later versions) have one less snap and at eight months they already seem to be getting a little bit tight on our boy who has a round tummy and chunky legs. I wish they would go back to the extra snap. Also, the first ones didn't have the hip snap which worked better for us. It makes it too tight around his chubby legs when we do the hip snap.
-We have had some problems with leaking. I've taken to stripping them more regularly, and I'm sure this would be the case with most cloth diapers, but it is sort of a hassle.
-It would be nice if there were more designs for the one-size. Currently only solids and daisies.
-The white ones end up looking a little discolored, so I would go with a colored one.
-The earlier versions had smaller holes for the elastic and the ends didn't slip out. The later versions had bigger holes and sometimes the end of the elastic slips out which can be annoying and leave little marks on his legs.
All of that said, we have 24 of these one sizes and like them better than any of the others we've tried. For our next baby, we'll use only these, with maybe a few small "perfect size" diapers early on.

    Rating:
One of the best things about this diaper is that it washes nicely and dries quickly. I only need to put it on a drying rack outside for a couple of hours, which saves a lot on electricity. And stains disappear with just a few hours in the sun. I like the sturdiness of the snaps and the stretchy waterproof cover, which contains messes well. The diaper feels soft on the outside and inside. I use Allen's Naturally detergent and haven't had any leaking.
Note that that the diaper is meant for "10-45 pounds" and will be huge on most newborns as well as bad for the healing of the umbilical cord (since the diaper covers it and could keep it from drying out). The only other major concern I have about Fuzzibunz is that the inside of the diaper seems to get really warm and moist due to it being made of fleece. The fleece makes it difficult to tell if the diaper is wet (unless you stick your finger in the diaper), and I worry that the baby will get overheated with wearing fleece in the summer. Also, because of the thickness of the diaper, I can't stick a new diaper under the dirty diaper to catch accidents when I change her (like I do with disposables).
A final suggestion for new cloth diapering parents - when we first came home from the hospital after using disposables, the thought of using cloth was daunting. I suggest having some disposables to use for the first few weeks while the umbilical cord dries out. The adjustment to caring for a newborn and the exhaustion can be overwhelming, so be flexible and make it easier on yourself during this initial adjustment period. When you are ready, take some time to figure out what size to adjust the elastics to (the sizing chart was very helpful). What I did was adjust a few diapers to different sizes and try them on to find the best fit (as it turned out, the sizing suggestion on the package was right on for me). Then set aside a time to stuff and adjust all the rest of your Fuzzibunz to the size that works. Line them up or stack them in a drawer so that they are ready to go. That way, you are not overwhelmed while the baby is crying and needs changing.

    Rating:
Fuzzibunz are a high quality pocket diaper. My daughter has fewer diaper rash problems because the pocket style diaper keeps her dry. These diapers also contain all of her messes, and they are a true one size diaper. She's been using diapers since she was about 10 pounds and now at 23 pounds, they still fit well.
We had the old style fuzzibunz and had some mild "around the leg" leaking (because she is a heavy wetter). We solved the problem by using a doubler and more frequent diaper changes. The new improved Fuzzibunz just arrived last week and the inserts are more trim and they have added an additional fourth hip snap.
We love the snaps on these diapers because my daughter cannot remove the diaper herself, and they are more durable. They should easily last through another baby (or two). I also love the BumGenius 3.0, but I will have to replace the velcro if I want to use the diapers with a second child.
I did have the PUL (waterproofing layer) fail on three of my diapers. There were slight tears in the material. But the customer service replied to my e-mail promptly, helped me fill out the necessary information, and they sent replacement diapers quickly at no extra charge. Their excellent customer service is the main reason why I am giving them a five star rating.

Wonderful diaper. Very high-quality and very soft. There are 3 places on each side to make adjustments and once you get it set you don't need to mess around with it until your baby needs more room. Well worth the investment. Will pay for itself in no time since you can use it all the way through potty training. I hang-dry mine and throw the inserts into the dryer.

Ok...so i have had my fuzzibunz for about 3 weeks now......
about 3 months ago....i bought 3 different brands of pocket diapers to try out...this was my second go round with cloth diapers....in the early months of motherhood i tried the prefolds and the thirsties and hated it...my babys bottom was always sitting in a cold wet rag.....
but after a demonstration at a cloth diaper store i decided to give the pocket diapers a try......out of the 3 initial brands i tried...i loved fuzzibunz....so i decided to invest in a total of 14 diapers that get washed about every 2-2.5 days or so......
i absolutely loved them at first.....babys bottom stayed unbelievable dry.....i was amazed...
now 3-4 weeks later it is not as much so....i notice now that when i change his diaper his skin is moist...not as bad as prefolds....but on the same level as a disposable.....which in my book is not ok considering you cant use any oils to protect babys bottom when using the fuzzibunz......
at night or during long naps he leaks......its not like a disposable diaper leak where it seems the pee will just run out.....more like an overall seep that leaves the bed damp...and i cant figure out where it exactly the leak is coming from because the cover seems dry to me....this is irregardless of how many pads/doublers i use......
i have tried stripping them and i dont see a difference.....
so i use a disposable at night.....that way the moisture gets absorbed and i can load his bottom up on oil to protect him from getting irritated....
i havent given up though and will call the company to get recommendations.....if anything changes then i will change my rating....
overall i dont regret my purchase and will continue to use them...
    pros:
-baby seems to like it and feels comfortable...i suppose...
    -not bulky like prefolds
-no more trashbags full of diapers to throw away
-no more trips to the store for diapers which = no more $ down the drain...or i should say in the trash
    -looks cute on
-easy to use and take care of--a tbsp of rockin green soap and baking soda and they are clean and fresh and out on in the sun to bleach
-good snaps--at 5 months baby took a liking to pulling off his diapers and putting them on his head when he woke up from his naps...which means that anything with velco is off and flapping in the wind
    cons:
    -leaks
-cleaning off poop ( which is unavoidable with cloth...but i have to say it...i hate this step)
    UPDATE:
    emailed about the leak/repelling issue....
the automated suggestion from fuzzibunz was as follows:
    1) try using OXYCLEANbaby with the detergent:
i use rockin' green already....used the oxyclean.....i didnt really notice a difference....
    2) if OXYCLEAN doesnt work then use a drop of dawn and a toothbrush and scrub each diaper then run a regular cycle without detergent:
i tried this and it worked......i was happy again....until the next washing.....i didnt scrub thinking that i would only have the do the dawn thing every so often....NOPE...i was wrong......the diapers went back to repelling liquid......so the next washing i tried soaking overnight in oxyclean after running an initial rinse cycle to get any initial debris off......after the soak i ran my usual cycle: cold prewash, hot wash, cold rinse, extra rinse.......it was a little better but still not completely working....so the next washing i dawn scrubbed...and voila....back in business...........so it seems if i truly want the absorbency that initially made me fall in love with fuzzibunz....then i will have to scrub EACH DIAPER with dawn EACH time....thats a lot of work.
so i will keep my rating as a 3 star.

I love this bag - have had it for a couple months (it replaced an ugly, boring, plain black bag that I simply got sick of looking at...)
This bag is lightweight, a good size, and the compartments/pockets are perfect... not too many, not too few, and all a good size. I like that they have elastic at the top to hold things in place.
The external pockets are very convenient as well.
The bottle cooler works very weel, and I'm having good luck with the changing pad.
I don't use the wipes holder so no comment on that.
