What are the best cloth diapers for a newborn to 3 months- AIOs or Fitteds? What brands?

Question by lysistrata411: What are the best cloth diapers for a newborn to 3 months- AIOs or Fitteds? What brands?
We have several assorted diapers for bigger babies, mostly mediums, but I want to start the cloth diapering at the beginning of my baby's life. So, I am guessing I will need some xs and small diapers. What do you suggest brand wise and diaper wise? Also how many of these should I plan on getting? Thanks!
I really don't want to do prefolds. I would like to do the ones that you only insert a liner-- but I didn't want to get all one size diapers because I heard they do not hit newborns.

just like disposable diapers, the answer varies by baby's bottom. try different ones till you find the brand that works best.

AIO's are fitted, it's the one size pocket diapers that aren't. I would go for a sized pre-fold, with a cover for the first few months.
ETA: I definitely wouldn't do a OS, pocket diaper, way to bulky for a little baby.

I am a huge fan of flats because they will fit even the tiniest baby and can be folded very trimly' of course you have to use a cover and the dappi nylon pants are good but were slightly big in the legs for the 1st 2 weeks til baby was 8 lbs

I've heard Kussalavs (spelling =|) fitteds are the best to use for newborns.

Are you sure you want the kind with inserts... I have friends with them and they seem like a lot of work... both because of the time it takes to stuff them and a long washing system...you still have to wash the outside and inside in different ways (3 times!). My son does use an all-in-one, natural diaper, envibum diapers, I love, love them. He is 1 1/2 months and its great...and really easy, easy to wash! I do use doublers...he pees, then I take it out and use the diaper longer becaues its dry. If you are interested in the envibums...just out their website...envibum.com...seriously I love them.

My favorites are the "All-In-One" diapers. Most have 5 layers of 100% cotton flannel plus a special middle soaker layer for increased absorbency. They also include an outer waterproof barrier, so no diaper cover is required. Cloth diapers are not like they used to be in the old days. They are so much more reliable and are many different brands. Check out shopping guide for more options - http://www.imshopping.com/
